To expand its market presence in the greater Memphis region, Dixon Hughes PLLC has named Jay Oliphant, CPA, as business development executive. Dixon Hughes is the largest public accounting firm based in the Southern United States.
Oliphant joins the firm with 12 years’ experience including five years as a CPA and audit manager with a Big Four accounting firm and six years’ experience as a recruiter and division director for a global firm specializing in financial recruitment.
“We are excited to have someone of Jay’s experience and understanding of accounting and consulting as part of our Memphis office,” says Anthony Clark, member–in-charge of the Memphis practice unit. “His ability to reach out knowledgably to a variety of businesses adds to our capabilities in dedicated services.”
Oliphant is responsible for introducing Dixon Hughes’ service offerings such as advisory services, internal audit assistance, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, technology risk assessment, and tax advisory and planning services to companies in the greater Memphis region, including Tupelo and Jackson, Mississippi, and as far west as Little Rock, Arkansas.
“My role is more consultative than anything else,” Oliphant says. “I’ll work with current and prospective clients to uncover problem areas and issues they may have and match them with the appropriate industry and service leaders at Dixon Hughes.”
According to Clark, Dixon Hughes’ focus on six major industry groups puts the firm in a unique position to serve the needs of the region’s diverse businesses.
“We’re able to blend up-to-date knowledge of the regulatory environment and tax compliance, with in-depth knowledge of how certain industry groups operate,” he says.
Dixon Hughes has industry professionals in healthcare, financial institutions, insurance, dealerships, construction and real estate, and manufacturing, distribution and services.
“It is a privilege to represent a firm with such an exceptional alignment of industry solutions,” he says. “I’m especially excited about Dixon Hughes’ commitment to developing and maintaining long-term relationships with clients through excellent service and deep technical knowledge.”
Oliphant earned his Bachelor of Accountancy and later his Master of Accountancy from the University of Mississippi, where he graduated cum laude in the masters program.
